Haven Child Psychology Practice

At Haven Child Psychology Practice, we provide warm, specialist support for children, young people, and families. Our multidisciplinary team works across Portsmouth and the wider Hampshire area, offering thoughtful assessments, practical guidance, and effective therapy.

We support families directly and also accept referrals from schools, SENCOs, children’s services, and other professionals.

We take a collaborative approach, working closely with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure joined-up, meaningful support.

Initial Assessments

Child Psychology Assessments in Portsmouth & Hampshire

Our initial assessments provide a gentle, in-depth understanding of your child’s emotional wellbeing, development, and needs.

Each assessment includes a written report that can be shared with schools, GPs, and other professionals where appropriate.

Clinical Psychology Assessment

£250 – 2 hours

A specialist, psychological and systemic assessment led by our Clinical Director.

  • Understanding your child’s developmental and emotional history
  • Creating a calm space for your child to feel at ease
  • A comprehensive psychological assessment
  • Clear, practical recommendations
  • A detailed report suitable for schools and professional referrals

Creative Child Psychotherapy Assessment

£200 – 2 hours

Supporting children with emotional, behavioural, or relational difficulties.

  • Exploration of your child’s experiences and feelings
  • Understanding family relationships and patterns
  • A gentle, child-centred approach
  • Collaborative planning for next steps
  • Written report for families and professionals

Family Therapy Assessment

£200 – 2 hours

Ideal when challenges are impacting the wider family.

  • Focus on family relationships and communication
  • Understanding patterns and stress points
  • Supporting positive change within the family system
  • Written recommendations for ongoing support

Occupational Therapy Assessment

£200 – 2 hours

Supporting children with sensory, emotional, or functional needs.

  • Assessment of sensory processing and daily living skills
  • Understanding challenges at home and school
  • Practical, easy-to-use strategies
  • Written report for families and educational settings

Ongoing Therapy & Support

Following assessment, we offer tailored, evidence-based support:

  • Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Director £125 per session
  • Child Psychotherapist £100 / 50 minutes
  • Family Therapist £150 / 1.5 hours
  • Occupational Therapist £100 / 45 minutes
  • Assistant Psychologist under supervision £50 per hour

We will always work with you to create a plan that feels manageable and supportive.

Haven Child Psychology Practice regularly works with:

We can:

  • Provide reports for EHCP processes

Clear & Transparent Fees

We believe in clarity and openness.

Additional work, such as phone calls, emails, or reports, is charged at the clinician’s hourly rate and agreed with you in advance, so there are no unexpected costs.
